Since Benjamin Chambers founded the city, the land located at 285 East Queen Street has been a home for educating the youth of Chambersburg. Education is etched into the structure, and it is the commitment of McKissick Associates to return learning to Central. (See about the project for more information about the educational history of Central.)
As part of the mixed-use redevelopment, the site will include roughly 16,000 SF of classroom and seminar space including a 2,000 SF indoor play area. Learn at Central will provide new and much needed classroom space to local educational institutions.
Area for educational tenants is being developed in the 1930 portion of the former high school. Handicapped access and secure entry sequence will be created on the ground floor along Queen Street and at the rear of the building to be created through partial demolition and development of internal site circulation.
